Welcome to Prince Charles

December 1st, 2006

Or not, as the case may be – yes, Tax200.com has received a bit of a boost in this last week or so after the news broke that Prince Charles is intending to invest in what is essentially a grand scale ‘buy-to-let’ in Myddfai, near Llanymddyfri.

It begs the question, of course, just HOW many houses does any one person need? Maybe it even pushed the Tax200.com idea even further – should we be increasing taxes on second homes, or just saying that second homes are not acceptable in a society where other people have no homes at all?

Either way, it’s brought a few more visitors to the website (although we’ve concentrated on Homes4Locals.com for most of the press stuff), and a few more subscribers to the weekly e-mail…:-)

The Christmas period

December 1st, 2006

We’ve recieved no news from the various different groups who are fighting against superstore developments in their areas over the last couple of weeks – which usually means that they are flooded with work!

This is a very important time of year for local businesses, of course – far too many people take a trip out of their home area to shop for Christmas, little realising how much damage they are doing to their own community.

Which means, this is the ideal time for you to be promoting Shops4Locals.com – we have a range of stickers, car stickers, some excellent posters and other ideas – if you would like help spread the word and support local businesses in your area, get in touch with us at cymuned[at]cymuned.org asap…:-)

North-East

December 1st, 2006

Following on from a lively meeting in Llanelwy over a week ago, where there was no support at all for the Council’s plans to develop 800 houses in Llanelwy, we will be holding a campaign meeting in Llangollen tonight (Friday the 1st of December) to discuss a number of different ways of taking the Homes4Locals.com campaign forward in the North-East of the country.

If you live in the area and would like to be involved, please contact us on cymuned[at]cymuned.org – we have got a range of different ways in which you can help make a difference, some of which take virtually none of your time.

A number of questionable Local Plans are being presented in the North-East in the course of 2007, none of which have taken on board the lessons that have been so clearly learnt in places like Yorkshire, Devon and Shropshire – the more English councils get it right about providing new build for local need only, of course, the more profiteering speculative developers will turn their eyes to the Welsh borders.
